Company Overview

The Broadway Subway Project Corporation (BSPC) is an Acciona-Ghella general partnership to deliver a 5.7 km extension of the Millennium Line, from VCC-Clark Station to Broadway and Arbutus. Once complete, it will provide fast, frequent and convenient service to B.C.’s second largest jobs center, world-class health services, an emerging innovation and research hub, and growing residential communities.

Summary

Reporting to the TVS & FLSS Lead, the Tunnel Ventilation System (TVS) Coordinator will be dedicating the coordination efforts for aspects of Tunnel Ventilation including the coordination with the suppliers, construction, and testing & commissioning. The successful candidate will have the capabilities to coordinate with the rest of the trades the installation of the large mechanical ventilation fans and dampers, along with electrical controls and drives. The TVS coordinator will ensure that the equipment provided is in compliance with codes, standards, and Project Agreement along with the construction, to ensure construction occurs safely, managing installation subcontractors to ensure on-time and on-budget completion, ensure system integration and interfacing with stations, guideway, tunnel, and other subsystems.

Responsibilities

Manufacturer/ Supplier

Oversee vendors to ensure, for the TVS:

Equipment meets all the technical information as per design deliverables.
Follow the manufacturing process of the equipment to ensure that vendors are meeting the schedule.
Review the technical information from suppliers, shop drawings to ensure that the equipment meets all applicable codes, including NFPA 130, CAN/ULC S1001, ASHRAE, Canadian Electrical Code, Vancouver Building Bylaw, TransLink Building Bylaw, IEC 61508.
Coordinate the integration of all elements, including axial fans, jet fans, dampers, controls, electrical.
Coordinate the Interfacing to FLSS system, Fire Command Posts.

Project Management

Collaborate with all the stakeholders to coordinate the activities.
Ensure interfaces and interface requirements are provided timely to support handovers.
Anticipate, identify, and provide different solutions to any problem to achieve the successful completion of suppliers’ and subcontract work.
Monitor and review supplier and subcontractor progress and works schedule.
Coordinate suppliers’ and subcontractor’s schedule with overall Project schedule and other subcontractor’s schedules.
Coordinate access requirements with other subcontractors.
Coordinate the delivery of the equipment at site with the rest of the trades.
Coordinate construction interfaces with other subcontractors.

Site Supervision

Ensure Safe Work Practices are in place and followed.
Collaborate with the Quality department to perform field inspections on all aspects of construction and installation on site.
Monitor quality, safety, and environmental performance.
Coordinate requests for information and issue field instructions.
Coordinate with the rest of the trades at site possible interfaces or clashes between works.
Evaluate, quantify, and value changes in the work.
Review the monthly progress provided by Subcontractors.
Monitor Subcontractor’s Post Installation Check-Out, testing and documentation to ensure all required checks are completed successfully.
Compile As-built construction records for completed installation work and commissioning support, using web-based document management system and report on the status of the installation and commissioning support.
Ensure the contracted works are completed timely to support Handover to the Test and Commissioning Team complete with inspection reports, deficiency lists and related handover documentation.
Attend the coordination meetings at site.
And other duties as required.

Qualifications

Desirable an Educational and experience requirements include a Mechanical/Electrical Engineering related degree or equivalent combinations of technical training and/or related experience, along with experience working at site.
Over 3 years’ experience working with industrial projects.
Proficiency reviewing technical aspects of the equipment.
Proficiency in issuing clear written instructions to subcontractors.
Excellent computer skills, working with spreadsheets, PDF drawings and web-based solutions.
Knowledge of Canadian Electrical Code, relevant safety regulations and requirements.
Ability to analyze information and evaluate results to propose different solutions to solve problems including inspecting equipment, structures, or materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects.
Ability to coordinate works at site with the capability to prioritize the activities.

Pay: $85,000.00-$88,000.00 per year
