Financial Insolvency Administrator (In-Office)

C.E. Craig & Associates Inc — Victoria, BC (Quadra Village)

WHO WE ARE:

C.E. Craig & Associates Inc. is a highly regarded boutique professional Licensed Insolvency Trustee firm servicing all of Vancouver Island, Vancouver, Nanaimo, and the surrounding Gulf Islands locations for over 23 Years. Our small but mighty team assist individuals, business owners and corporations throughout British Columbia with financial restructuring, consumer proposals, bankruptcies and related insolvency matters under the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:
C.E. Craig & Associates is looking for a professional, detail-oriented individual interested in building a long-term career in the specialized field of insolvency administration, in our Victoria Office Location.

Reporting to the CEO and other Team Leads , the successful candidate possesses exceptional organizational, analytical, and time management skills, as well as a professional and friendly demeanor.

This is not a routine bookkeeping or traditional accounting position. Insolvency administration combines aspects of accounting, taxation, law, financial analysis, negotiation and client service. Every client, and every file is different.

Staff are involved in meaningful analytical work and participate in multiple aspects of file administration from initial intake through to completion. You will work closely with clients, creditors, and internal teams to manage files, resolve issues proactively, and maintain accurate documentation. All activities are completed in compliance with the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act (BIA) and OSB directives while delivering a high standard of service.

Training in insolvency procedures and legislation will be provided for the successful candidate.

Previous insolvency experience is not required but beneficial.

This is a full-time 90 day (minimum) contract position based out of our Victoria Office location. (hopefully this will turn into a full time position after 90 Days)

Relocation services are not included in this opportunity.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Assisting with general office administrative tasks - answering phone, filing, answering queries, some reception duties when needed over summer period.

- Assisting with client intake and financial information gathering

· Reviewing financial records and preparing insolvency documentation

· Preparing and updating Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act forms and reports

· Assisting with consumer proposals, personal bankruptcies and corporate insolvency files

· Reviewing income, expenses, assets and liabilities for insolvency analysis

· Monitoring proposal payments and bankruptcy obligations

· Preparing bank reconciliations and various banking functions

· Assisting with preparation of Statements of Receipts and Disbursements when files are completed, payments of interim dividends to creditors

· Assisting with personal and corporate tax return preparation related to insolvency estates

· Drafting professional correspondence to creditors, lawyers, regulators and the Court

· Assisting with asset sales/valuation/liquidation when necessary

· Answering telephone inquiries and providing general office support

· Maintaining accurate electronic and physical file records

REQUIREMENTS and QUALIFICATIONS:
MANDATORY

· Minimum 2 years of office experience in accounting, bookkeeping, financial services, legal administration or a related professional environment and experince with the Canadian personal and business tax systems

· Post-secondary education in accounting, bookkeeping or business administration

· “Passion to Serve” Customer focus, self-motivated, assertive and able to learn quickly

· Exceptional English verbal, written, and interpersonal skills. Ability to interface effectively with a team and the ability to work independently

· Strong data entry skills

· Excellent time management skills, ability to prioritize and contribute to multiple projects simultaneously; work in a fast-paced environment with exceptional data entry and accuracy

· Strong analytical, problem-solving skills, detail oriented

· Flexibility to adapt to a changing environment, make sound decisions

· Ability to exercise judgment in handling confidential/sensitive information

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and Internet Explorer) and ability to learn specialized software systems.

· Task-oriented with a high sense of urgency.

Beneficial Skills -

· Tax preparation experience - T1 or T2 and GST filings

· Use of Bookkeeping or accounting software experience- managing payables/receivables, collections

· Legal, insurance, banking, debt collection or insolvency experience.

THE WORK ENVIRONMENT

We are a collaborative small office (5 people) where staff work closely together and are exposed to a wide variety of professional responsibilities. This position involves regular interaction with individuals experiencing financial difficulty, and requires professionalism, patience, compassion, and effective communication skills.

A large friendly fluffy office dog is part of the daily work environment. Candidates should be comfortable working in an office where a dog is present.
