PART-TIME FACILITIES MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN

Location: Main Office, 8210 Yellowhead Trail NW, Edmonton, AB T5B 1G5

Part-time: Monday – Friday, and other days as needed, working up to 24 hours per week

Habitat for Humanity Edmonton (Habitat Edmonton) is a charity operating in affiliation with Habitat for Humanity Canada and Habitat for Humanity International, whose vision is to see a world where everyone has a safe and decent place to live.

Position

At Habitat for Humanity Edmonton, every role contributes to something bigger. Through our ReStores, community partnerships, and affordable homeownership program, we help families build strength, stability, and independence through safe and affordable housing.

We are currently seeking a part time Facilities Maintenance Technician to support the maintenance, repair, and smooth operation of Habitat Edmonton facilities, equipment, and related assets across the organization. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands on problem solving, has strong technical know-how, takes pride in keeping operations running smoothly, and values teamwork, accountability, and service.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Facilities Maintenance Technician will:

Perform routine maintenance, repairs, and upkeep of Habitat Edmonton facilities, parking areas, storage spaces, equipment, and related assets.
Complete preventative maintenance activities on facilities, vehicles, tools, and equipment to ensure safe and reliable operation.
Diagnose and perform repairs to building systems and equipment, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, doors, locks, lighting, fixtures, and other facility components. Coordinate specialized repairs with external contractors when required.
Operate and maintain a variety of hand tools, power tools, vehicles, and equipment safely and effectively.
Inspect, clean, maintain, and organize tools, equipment, and maintenance supplies, ensuring inventory is readily available and in good working order.
Respond promptly to maintenance requests and complete repairs in a timely and professional manner.
Assist with facility renovations, office moves, furniture assembly, equipment installations, and the setup of new Habitat Edmonton locations.
Work directly with vendors and contractors on site, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and to organizational standards.
Maintain accurate records of completed maintenance activities, inspections, repairs, and equipment servicing.
Identify maintenance issues before they become larger problems and recommend practical solutions to improve facility reliability and appearance.
Support the tracking of maintenance expenses and assist with annual facilities planning.
Ensure all work is completed in accordance with Occupational Health and Safety legislation, safe work practices, and Habitat Edmonton policies.

Qualifications and Experience

Technical Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have:

Minimum 5 years of hands-on facilities maintenance and repair experience
Working knowledge of building systems including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, sprinkler, alarm, and security systems
Experience creating and personally delivering preventative maintenance programs
Knowledge of Alberta Occupational Health & Safety requirements
Experience maintaining inventories and tracking facility assets
Proficiency with Microsoft 365 including Outlook, Word, Excel, and Teams
Ability to support facilities budgeting, expense tracking, and capital planning
