Job Overview

Delta Shipping Ltd. is seeking a motivated and experienced Business Development Manager to expand our transportation operations and develop new freight opportunities across Canada and the United States.

The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying potential customers, building strong business relationships, securing new freight lanes, and increasing company revenue. This role requires strong knowledge of the trucking and logistics industry, excellent communication skills, and the ability to independently develop and manage customer accounts.

Key Responsibilities

Identify and develop new business opportunities within the dry van and reefer transportation market.
Prospect and connect with shippers, manufacturers, distributors, freight brokers, and logistics providers.
Generate new leads through cold calling, networking, referrals, industry events, and online platforms.
Schedule and attend customer meetings to understand transportation needs and present service solutions.
Manage the customer onboarding process, including account setup, agreements, and service requirements.
Negotiate freight rates, contracts, and long-term transportation partnerships.
Build and maintain strong relationships with customers to ensure satisfaction and repeat business.
Maintain an active sales pipeline and track opportunities using CRM tools.
Monitor industry trends, market conditions, pricing, and competitor activities.
Work closely with dispatch and operations teams to ensure customer requirements are successfully met.

Qualifications & Experience

Minimum 3 years of experience in transportation sales, business development, trucking, logistics, or freight brokerage.
Strong understanding of dry van, reefer, and North American transportation operations.
Proven ability to acquire new customers and generate consistent freight business.
Strong sales, negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills.
Ability to develop and execute effective sales strategies.
Self-motivated, goal-oriented, and capable of working independently.
Experience using CRM systems and Microsoft Office applications.
Existing contacts within the transportation industry are considered a strong asset.
Valid driver's license with the ability to travel for customer meetings and business development activities.

Work Location

Remote position based in Calgary, Alberta.
Travel within Alberta, Canada, and occasional travel to the United States is required for customer meetings, networking, and business development opportunities.
