Finish Carpenter

Gorham Real Estate/Fredericton Rentals Ltd. is currently seeking a talented individual interested in joining our Maintenance Department in the role of Finish Carpenter. We are a well-established and fast-growing company with over 65 years in the Property Management business in Fredericton.

Job Summary:

Our Finish Carpenter will work closely with our Project Manager to complete a variety of interior finishing and renovation projects across our residential properties. Responsibilities include installing and repairing trim, doors, cabinetry, countertops, flooring, bathroom finishes, and other detailed carpentry work to ensure a high-quality finished product.

The successful candidate will take pride in craftsmanship, attention to detail, and delivering professional results while maintaining occupied and vacant rental units.

The Finish Carpenter will check in each day to receive work orders and project assignments. This is a full-time position of 40.5 hours per week, with occasional seasonal or weekend work as required.

Work Schedule:

Monday to Thursday: 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Friday: 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Applicants must supply their own hand tools appropriate for finish carpentry.

A Company Vehicle will be provided for daily use while on the job.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Duties include all aspects of finish carpentry, including but not limited to:

Installation and repair of interior trim, baseboards, casings, crown moulding, and other finish millwork
Installation, adjustment, and repair of interior and exterior doors, frames, hardware, and weatherstripping
Installation and repair of kitchen and bathroom cabinetry, countertops, shelving, and built-in storage
Installation and repair of laminate, vinyl plank, engineered hardwood, and other finish flooring
Bathroom finishing including tub surrounds, vanities, mirrors, accessories, and finishing details
Drywall repairs, patching, sanding, and preparation for painting
Installation of interior fixtures and hardware including door handles, locks, hinges, closet systems, and bathroom accessories
Minor framing and backing as required to complete finish carpentry projects
Reading work orders and completing projects efficiently while maintaining quality workmanship
Liaising with the Project Manager regarding project scope, timelines, and material requirements
Working with suppliers to obtain required materials and supplies
Maintaining accurate records of completed work orders
Performing quality control inspections to ensure work meets company standards
Maintaining company equipment and ensuring tools remain in safe working condition
Assisting other maintenance team members with renovation projects as required

Our head office is located at 25 Waggoners Lane, Fredericton, New Brunswick. Our properties are located throughout the downtown, uptown, and northside of Fredericton.

Requirements:

Clean Criminal Record Check provided prior to commencing employment
Valid Driver's Licence with a clean driving record
Ability to work occasional evenings, weekends, and overtime as required
Flexibility to participate in the emergency maintenance on-call rotation
Cell phone with data plan (company compensation provided)
Own toolbox equipped with tools required for finish carpentry
Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality workmanship
Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks with minimal supervision
Excellent communication and customer service skills when working in occupied units
Ability to use mobile technology for company work orders and payroll software
Ability to walk, bend, kneel, climb ladders, push, pull, and lift materials throughout the workday

Education:

High School Diploma or equivalent
Carpentry Trade Certification or equivalent combination of education and experience considered an asset

Qualifications:

Minimum 3–5 years of experience in finish carpentry, interior renovations, or residential maintenance
Demonstrated experience installing trim, mouldings, doors, cabinetry, flooring, and finish hardware
Experience performing drywall repairs and interior finishing work
Ability to produce high-quality, professional finishes with strong attention to detail
Experience working in residential rental properties or occupied homes is considered an asset
