Full job description

JOIN THE NORTHWOOD TEAM!

Northwood is currently accepting applications for a Term (4 Months) Housekeeper to join our Halifax team!

Reporting to the Manager, Environmental Services the Housekeeper performs cleaning duties while helping to support and provide a safe working environment.

Qualifications:

Minimum of Grade X or equivalent.
Must be able to read, write, comprehend and follow through on specific instructions.
Ability to lift, pull, push and move heavy equipment and heavy furniture on a regular daily basis (50lbs).
Must be flexible and able to work all shifts: days, evenings and nights. These would include 8hr, 10hr or 12hr shifts
Good personal hygiene.
Must have regular and consistent attendance in accordance with the Northwood corporate standard.
Ability to work well with others including: co-workers, supervisors and residents.
Ability to work independently with a minimum amount of supervision.
Must have a minimum of 2 years work experience in the housekeeping field in a Long Term Care or Acute Care environment.
Must have knowledge of floor stripping, WHMIS, carpet care, and refinishing floors.

Responsibilities:

Perform cleaning functions in assigned areas.
Collect and transport garbage, recycling with the ability to push/pull large carts.
Performs periodic floor and carpet maintenance in accordance with established procedures and prescribed techniques.
Maintains cleanliness, orderliness and general repair of equipment and work area.
Completes project/special cleaning, in areas as assigned by the supervisor.
Follows safe work practices.
Complete specific set-ups for special functions.
Completes office moves - transporting of desks, cabinets and other furniture from one area to another as requested by supervisors.
Other duties as assigned.

Hours of work: 80 Hours and 32 hours bi-weekly (Varied shifts)
