Job Position – General Accountant

Company – Smart Circle International LP

Location – 30 East Beaver Creek Road, Suite 201, Richmond Hill, ON L4B 1J2

Job Category – Accounting and Finance

Reports to – Finance Controller

Schedule – Full time

Position Summary

Responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting month-end and year-end closing, preparing financial reports and reconciliations, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and company policies. In addition, this role is responsible for calculating, validating, and processing commission payments ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with contractual agreements.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare journal entries, accruals, and adjusting entries.
Maintain the general ledger and perform account reconciliations.
Support month-end and year-end closing and financial reporting.
Reconcile bank, credit card, and intercompany accounts.
Monitor AR/AP and support tax and regulatory filings.
Maintain fixed asset records and depreciation.
Calculate, validate, reconcile, and process commission payments.
Review commission calculations and investigate discrepancies.
Prepare commission statements and maintain supporting documentation.
Support audits and ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal controls.
Identify opportunities to improve accounting and commission processes.
Assist with special projects and other finance-related duties.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
3–5 years of accounting experience.
Experience with commissions/incentive compensation and month-end close.
Strong knowledge of GAAP/IFRS.
Advanced Excel skills, including PivotTables and XLOOKUP.
Experience with ERP/accounting systems; NetSuite experience is an asset.
Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
CPA designation or progress toward CPA is an asset.

Working Conditions

Primarily office or hybrid, with occasional additional hours during month-end, year-end, and audit periods.

Performance Measures

Accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting and reconciliations.
Accuracy and timely processing of commission calculations and payments.
Successful completion of month-end/year-end close.
Compliance with policies, agreements, and accounting standards.
Timely completion of projects and process improvements.

Pay: $60,000.00-$75,000.00 per year
