Dental Health Programs

Permanent Part-Time Position: 3 days/21 hours per week

Expected Start Date: August 2026

Salary Range: $124,432 - $151,482 ($68.36 - $83.23 hourly)

Job Summary

At the heart of our work is an interdisciplinary approach that delivers holistic, community-based care – with a strong focus on individuals who experience barriers to accessing health services. Our team is deeply committed to inclusivity and works within the social determinants of health framework, emphasizing prevention, health promotion, and client education.

Reporting to the Manager, Dental Health Programs, and accountable to the Senior Director of Clinical Programs, the dentist will be responsible for providing a range of routine and emergency dental services to clients using a comprehensive health promotion approach. The role works collaboratively with the dental team to ensure comprehensive oral health care.

Primary Responsibilities

· Provides a broad range of basic dental treatment including but not limited to: examinations and diagnosis, radiographs, emergency services, prescribe antibiotics, restorative services, laser treatment, oral surgery services, endodontic services, periodontal services, prosthodontic services, extractions, oral hygiene services, histopathological test/analysis, alveoloplasty, and local anesthetic administration, in a culturally safe manner following anti-racism and anti-oppression frameworks when engaging clients

· Supports referrals and triage to appropriate specialists and urgent care providers based on clinical findings and maintains referral pathways with dental and medical providers

· Completes all documentation and record keeping in accordance with LAMP policies and procedures, and current professional standards set by the RCDSO

· Performs routine practices and additional precautions according to current infection control guidelines as per RCDSO guidelines and IPAC guidelines

· Participates in oral health promotion, presentations, outreach, advocacy, community education, and resource development as directed

· Some evenings, weekends, and local travel may be required

Required Qualifications

· Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from a university recognized by the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario, and eligible to practice clinical dentistry in Ontario. Must be a member in good standing with the RCDSO

· Three years’ experience working with priority populations, children and/or seniors with extensive experience in providing a wide range of dental services

· Knowledge and competence in current clinical techniques, and procedures including the interpretation of client medical histories, diagnosis through visual examination, dental services, and infection control

· Knowledge of the eligibility requirements for publicly funded dental programs including the Ontario Seniors Dental Care program (OSDCP) and the Canadian Dental Care Program (CDCP), and working in a community dental clinic or a public health environment an asset

· Knowledge of Federal, Provincial, and Municipal legislation and regulations such as the Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA), Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), RCDSO Practice Standards and Code of Ethics, Occupational Health and Safety Act

· Ability to provide compassionate, respectful, non-judgmental and culturally competent care to vulnerable populations focusing on diversity and inclusion

· Experience in health promotion, dental outreach, and oral health advocacy activities would be an asset

· Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to clearly convey information and ideas in order to communication effectively across all levels of the organization
