CDN is a recognized industry leader in the energy services sector. CDN is a full-service provider with expertise in Electrical & Instrumentation maintenance, renewables/solar, major projects, combustion & emissions reduction, and measurement.

Role: HSE Advisor – Field Operations
Location: Kitimat, British Columbia
Shift: 5 days on/2 days off (subject to change)
Pre-Employment Condition: Pre-employment D&A test required
Additional Details: Relocation assistance provided for the right candidate

This is a permanent, full-time position based in Kitimat, British Columbia. We are not considering contractors at this time and this is not a FIFO role.

The HSE Field Advisor is responsible for ensuring that CDN’s Safety Program and clients’ safety specifications are being met and adhered to, while providing knowledge and HSE guidance to the employees on site to minimize the potential hazards and risks associated with field operations.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Keep current with Occupational Health & Safety Regulations, client directives, client construction standards and procedures, and industry best practices.
Provide guidance to employees and contractors with HSE procedures and inform them of new legislation and OHS regulations.
Conduct worksite orientations as required for client representatives, subcontractors, visitors, and industry representatives attending the worksites.
Facilitate worksite safety meetings, training drills, and conduct worksite HSE observations, audits, and inspections.
Take ownership and collaborate with the Project Management Team and HSE Services to ensure corrective actions from incidents, inspections and observations are addressed in a timely manner.
Attend operations meetings to ensure upcoming project safety and environmental requirements are in place and take accountability to complete Project Safety Plans prior to commencement.
Provide site representation to projects requiring additional monitoring for critical high hazard or environmentally sensitive worksites.
Develop site specific Emergency Response Plans and execute mock drills to ensure the crew on site understands their roles and responsibilities.
Perform safety equipment checks and replenishing supplies as needed for: first aid kits, spill kits, fire extinguishers, and fire protection equipment.
Assist with COR and project specific HSE audits at CDN worksite locations and prepare reports as directed.
Assist with incident investigations and reporting, including transporting injured/sick workers to medical facilities.
Facilitate the transfer of HSE field documentation between site crews, head office operations, and various regional branches.
All other duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Related University degree, college diploma, and/or trade certification and typically 7 or more years of related HSE experience, or combination of formal education and experience.
National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) designation, Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety (COHS), or currently pursuing certification is an asset.

Ability to work as part of a team and demonstrate initiative and independence when working alone.

Experience or knowledge of electrical systems is an asset.
Valid H2S, First Aid Level C- CPR & AED, CSTS, and CSO.
Valid class 5 license with a clean drivers abstract.
