Birla Carbon Canada in Hamilton is looking for a Material Handler to join our Warehouse team.

Responsibilities

Operate our packaging equipment and operate a forklift.
Sample customer product(s) for laboratory testing.
Code customer product(s).
Prepare and clean trailers and hopper cars in preparation for loading.
Complete daily equipment check sheets.
Load trailers and hopper cars according to procedure; clean hopper car screens and hoses as required.
Transfer hopper cars and trailers in and out of the Warehouse Bldg.
Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
Complete all work orders, assignments, and priority work lists as assigned consistent with our commitment to on-time performance.
Prepare and maintain all required reports and related documentation.
Perform all required tasks in a manner consistent with the needs of our customers, our safety procedures and policies.
Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

High school diploma, GED or equivalent, secondary education is considered an asset
Valid forklift certificate.
Several years of experience as a Material Handler is an asset.
Experience in a large-scale manufacturing and/or continuous process environment is an asset.
Excellent verbal and written communications skills.

Demonstrated commitment to safety and the environment.

Work Conditions/Schedule

Able to climb stairs and ladders on a regular basis; work at heights and work in dusty environments.
Able to work outdoors and in all weather conditions; able to lift at least 50 lbs.
Able to operate basic mechanical tools safely and efficiently
Able to work continental rotating shift work (ie, 2, 2, 3); including alternating weekends, nights (2-weeks days/2-weeks nights) and holidays.
12-hours shifts: 6:00 - 6:00 / 80-hours per 2-week period.
Overtime as required
