About the Role

In this hybrid leadership position, you will play a key role in ensuring our cannabis manufacturing facility—spanning gummy production, vape filling, and automated packaging operations—runs smoothly, safely, and efficiently every day.

You will oversee both the people and the equipment that keep our production lines moving, ensuring optimal throughput, minimal downtime, and consistent product quality. This role combines hands-on technical work with strong floor leadership, making it ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, highly regulated environment where automation, precision, and compliance are critical. You will be the bridge between production, maintenance, quality, and facility operations, ensuring all systems work together seamlessly to support our growing cannabis product portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

Production Supervision

Lead daily production activities across gummy processing, vape filling, and packaging lines, ensuring throughput, quality, and schedule adherence.
Supervise production staff, assign daily tasks, and ensure teams follow SOPs and Health Canada regulations.
Monitor production KPIs (yield, downtime, scrap, efficiencies) and drive continuous improvements.
Support scheduling, shift coordination, and communication across Production, QA, and Maintenance teams.

Facilities & Equipment Management

Oversee and maintain facility systems including HVAC, electrical, compressed air, RO water, and other critical utilities.
Maintain and troubleshoot gummy manufacturing equipment (cookers, mixers, depositors, chill tunnels).
Service and optimize vape filling equipment (automated fillers, cartridge presentation, dosing, and capping).
Manage preventative and corrective maintenance for automated packaging lines (flow wrappers, FFS machines, labeling systems, cartoners).
Support vendor coordination, equipment installations, and OEM service visits.

Automation & Technical Troubleshooting

Diagnose mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and PLC-related issues to minimize downtime.
Support equipment changeovers, setups, calibrations, and process validations.
Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance reliability and overall line efficiency.

Compliance, Safety & Quality

Ensure compliance with GPP, Health Canada regulations, sanitation standards, and internal QA procedures.
Maintain accurate production and maintenance documentation, including batch records, maintenance logs, and calibration reports.
Lead safety programs including lockout/tagout, equipment guarding, and facility inspections.
Participate in internal and external audits.

Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration

Train and mentor production and maintenance staff on equipment operation, SOPs, and safety practices.
Collaborate with QA, R&D, and management to troubleshoot issues and support new product launches.
Maintain inventory of critical spare parts for all production areas.
Assist with capital projects, facility improvements, and new equipment commissioning.

Qualifications

3–7+ years of experience in food processing, cannabis production, pharmaceuticals, or automated manufacturing.
Strong technical background in automated equipment, electromechanical systems, pneumatics, or PLC-driven machinery.
Prior supervisory or lead-hand experience in production or maintenance.
Experience with one or more of:
Gummy manufacturing systems
Vape oil filling machinery
High-speed packaging lines
Knowledge of GPP, HACCP, or other regulated environments (asset).
Excellent communication, leadership, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
