Full job description

R&B Plumbing & Heating Ltd. is a family-owned plumbing, heating, cooling and drainage company proudly serving homeowners across the North Shore, Vancouver, and Burnaby.

Our office is collaborative, supportive, and effective, and we're looking for someone who enjoys working with people while keeping the details organized behind the scenes.

This is a full-time, 13-month maternity leave contract that includes approximately four weeks of paid training with the current employee before the leave begins. The job starts on Aug 17, 2026.

About the Role

This position is approximately 60% customer service and office administration and 40% bookkeeping. You'll be one of the first people our customers speak with, helping coordinate service appointments while also supporting the day-to-day financial administration of the business. We expect you to be reliable, organized, and able to complete tasks with autonomy to meet key accountabilities and deadlines - because that's how we do it at R&B.

Responsibilities

Customer Service & Office Administration

Answer incoming customer calls and emails professionally.
Schedule and dispatch service technicians.
Book service appointments.
Review, process and close completed work orders.
Process customer payments.
Provide first-level customer support and resolve routine inquiries.
Contact existing customers regarding maintenance, recommended services and follow-up appointments.
Price updates

Bookkeeping

Accounts payable.
Bi-weekly payroll for approximately 15 employees.
Reconciliations
Time tracking and verification
General bookkeeping using QuickBooks Online.
Accurate data entry and record keeping.
Less glamorous jobs like physical and cloud filing and data entry
Administrative support as required.

Qualifications

We're looking for someone who is:

Accurate with data entry and administrative work.
Able to communicate clearly and professionally with a diverse customer base.
Comfortable learning technical plumbing and heating terminology.

Experience Required

Minimum two years of bookkeeping experience.
Minimum two years of experience using QuickBooks Online.
One year of Customer service experience of any kind
Any Experience in the plumbing, HVAC, construction or other service trades is an asset but not required—we're happy to train the right person.

The Environment:

We are an open concept, storefront/ warehouse type office located in North Vancouver. and public transit options are limited. Applicants should have a reliable way to travel to and from work. We are close to walking trails for when you need a little fresh air, and there is quite a bit of available parking nearby.
