Job Title: Health & Safety Coordinator
Location: Peel Region, ON
Job Type: Permanent
Salary: $45,000-$50,000/year
Work Model: In Office

Responsibilities:
Chair Joint Health & Safety Committee (JHSC) meetings and assist with organization, including preparing agendas and meeting minutes
Ensure completion of workplace inspections
Conduct onboarding for new hires and temporary employees, including completion of health and safety orientation
Act as Emergency Coordinator in the absence of the Health & Safety Manager
Liaise with and report to regulatory bodies (e.g., WSIB, MLITSD) as required
Provide first aid and assess the need for advanced medical care when necessary
Maintain first aid supplies, perform regular inspections, and ensure proper documentation
Maintain and update Safety Data Sheets (SDS)
Prioritize safety issues and manage multiple projects and reports simultaneously
Enforce Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) policies (e.g., use of PPE such as safety glasses and hearing protection)

Lead and support hazard investigations, including:
Root cause analysis
Detailed report writing
Implementation and follow-up of corrective actions

Organize, conduct, and support OHS training programs, including:

Pallet jack training
Crane training
First aid training
Forklift training
Additional training as required
Maintain training records for all employees
Intervene in unsafe activities or operations
Manage ordering of safety supplies, equipment, and training materials
Develop Safe Operating Procedures (SOPs) and identify gaps in the health and safety program
Communicate safety updates, HR bulletins, and workplace postings
Coordinate hazardous waste material pickups
Support employee uniform management
Perform regular walkthroughs of the facility for inspections and observations
Perform other duties as assigned

Required Skills:
Strong knowledge of OHS guidelines and practices
Experience with report writing, investigations, and corrective actions
High attention to detail and strong analytical thinking
Proficient in Microsoft Office
Self-motivated with the ability to follow direction as needed
Technical aptitude with familiarity in manufacturing processes and equipment
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Strong communication, influencing, and relationship-building skills
Excellent organizational, planning, and follow-up abilities
Strong people and process management skills
