Applied Pharmaceutical Innovation (API) brings life-saving research to the real world by helping life science innovators bridge the gap between academic research and commercial product development. When you join API, you are part of a rapidly growing team that is creating collaborative opportunities to commercialize Canadian life sciences discoveries, increasing the amount of commercial research and development in the country, and supporting Alberta as a key pillar in Canada’s life sciences sector.

API is seeking a Project Coordinator to join our team for a 19-month temporary contract. The role will support project delivery by attending meetings, taking minutes, and tracking action items to ensure follow-through. They will maintain project tools such as Monday boards and help monitor progress against timelines and deliverables. The coordinator will provide administrative and operational support to keep projects organized and on track. Additionally, they will act as a secondary point of awareness for key issues, improving continuity and reducing reliance on senior PMO leaders.

This is a 1.0 FTE role within our PMO function, with one vacancy available in the team; candidates who are better suited at a Project Manager level are encouraged to apply to the Project Manager posting.

** Please note this position requires full-time on-site presence.

Key Responsibilities, include but are not limited to:

Project Planning and Scheduling

Assist the Project Manager in developing project timelines and schedules, coordinating subcontractor and supplier activities, and ensuring deadlines are met.

Communication

Serve as a central point of contact for all project stakeholders, facilitating meetings, providing daily progress reports, and escalating issues as needed.

Documentation

Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including contracts, change orders, permits, project drawings, ensuring compliance with regulations.

Budget & Cost Tracking

Work with Finance Staff to monitor project expenditures, track expenses, and assist in preparing financial reports to help control costs and keep projects within budget.

Risk management & Problem-Solving

Identify potential delays or issues and work with the team to find solutions to keep the project on track.

Support

Assist the Translational Services Team on project-related activities.

Qualifications - (Education, Certification, Degree, Skills, Knowledge, etc.)

Education

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction or relevant field.

Experience

2-5 years of managing projects or supporting project operations.

Personal Competencies

Proven ability to meet timelines and produce deliverables.
Strong organizational, analytical, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and prioritization skills.
Fosters transparent, honest, and positive team environment.
Strong written documentation.
Ability to work in a high-pressure environment

Working Conditions:

Required travel between Edmonton API sites.
This position requires you to be on site.
