Full job description

Alliance Underground Inc. is a Winnipeg-based heavy civil contractor specializing in watermain, sewer, and underground infrastructure construction. We take pride in delivering high-quality work while maintaining a strong commitment to safety, efficiency, and teamwork on every project.

Positions Available

Water & Sewer Pipelayers
Pipelayer Helpers
General Labourers (Underground Construction)

Key Responsibilities

Pipelayers

Install watermain, sewer, and service connections to City of Winnipeg standards
Read and interpret grade stakes, plans, and drawings
Ensure proper alignment, bedding, and backfilling of pipe
Work safely around live utilities and excavations

Pipelayer Helpers

Assist pipelayers with pipe installation, alignment, and connections
Help with placing bedding material, backfilling, and compaction
Work in trenches under supervision while maintaining safe practices
Handle tools, rigging, and materials required for pipe installation

Labourers

Assist with pipe installation, grading, and site preparation
Hand digging, shoveling, and general site cleanup
Support equipment operators and crew leads
Maintain safe and organized work areas

Requirements

Experience in underground construction is an asset (required for pipelayers)
Ability to work in trenches and physically demanding environments
Valid Class 5 driver’s license
Must be able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
Strong understanding of job site safety practices

Certifications (Assets but Not Mandatory)

WHMIS (Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System)
Ground Disturbance Level II
Confined Space Training
Fall Protection

Safety & Compliance

Must comply with Workplace Safety and Health Manitoba regulations and company safety policies
Participation in daily toolbox talks and hazard assessments is required
All employees are required to wear appropriate PPE at all times

Important Notes

This is a seasonal position, and layoffs may occur during winter months as part of the heavy construction industry in Manitoba
