As a Clerk – Mailroom Shipper/Receiver within our Customer Service Unit, you will be responsible for the distribution of incoming mail, shipping/receiving and distribution of packages, parcels and other goods delivered to Peel Regional Police and all related shipping/receiving and mailroom duties.

What will your typical day look like?

Accepts, and signs for all deliveries and pick-ups for the organization.
Liaises with all bureaus within the organization providing information on mail, shipping and receiving processes and inquiries, as well as external delivery service providers arranging shipments and distribution of packages.
Receives, logs and sorts mail, packages, parcels and other goods delivered to Peel Regional Police. Ensures all mail, packages, parcels and other goods are received in good order; recording damaged goods on waybill.
Receives, sorts and date stamps all incoming Peel Regional Police mail daily. Distributes all Records Services incoming mail, preparing inter-departmental mail for distribution to appropriate areas.
Delivers mail/inter-office mail, packages, parcels and other goods to appropriate areas within Sir Robert Peel. Coordinates with Clerk Couriers for pick-ups and deliveries of mail/inter-officer mail, documents, packages, parcels and other goods to all areas within the organization. Notifies departments of sizeable or high valued shipments; providing Proof of Delivery documentation upon request.
Prepares outgoing Canada Post, inter-office, registered, bulk mail and courier shipments, preparing packaging and bills of lading. Tracks courier packages, providing tracking documentation to the requestor.
Answers telephone inquiries regarding mailroom procedures and distributes messages.
Receives and distributes suspended driver's licences and driver's licence suspensions to traffic court, Suspension Control, the Ministry of Transportation and forwards for electronic storage.
Operates and performs basic maintenance of postal machine, including arranging for its service and maintenance. Responsible for keeping track of and downloading funds for postage machine when required. Ensures appropriate level of mailroom, shipping/receiving and courier supplies is maintained.

Maintains up-to-date shipping and receiving logs using Excel spreadsheets. Tracks claims arising from shipments using computer application software.
Ensures safe and responsible operation of hydraulic dock leveler while loading/unloading of skids in shipping/receiving.
Maintains inventory of all mobile carts, ensuring proper sign-out and return of carts.
Disposes of excess packing material, e.g. wood skids, cardboard and other miscellaneous packaging.
Maintains a clean, safe and secure working area.
Performs additional duties as assigned.

A High School Diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience
A minimum of 1 year related experience required
MS Outlook-preferred
MS Word-preferred
MS Excel-preferred
Demonstrated knowledge of Niche system preferred
Well-developed keyboard and data entry skills
Effective oral communication and interpersonal skills required
Demonstrated physical ability to perform all activities
Demonstrated organizational skills
