Full job description

Overview
We are seeking a skilled Journeyman Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanic (On/Off Road) to join our team. This role is vital in maintaining and repairing a wide range of heavy machinery, including excavators, graders, rollers, pavers and other heavy equipment. The ideal candidate will possess extensive mechanical knowledge, hands-on experience with automotive and heavy equipment repair, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team. Experience with Caterpillar, john deere, and case equipment would be highly valued.

Duties

Perform diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance on heavy-duty equipment such as excavators, graders, rollers, etc.
Conduct electrical troubleshooting and repairs using schematics and electrical testing tools.
Utilize hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and other specialized machinery to complete repairs efficiently.
Carry out routine inspections to identify potential issues before they lead to breakdowns.
Perform heavy lifting tasks safely using appropriate techniques and equipment.
Assemble or disassemble components for repair or replacement as needed.
Maintain detailed service records and documentation of repairs performed.
Ensure all work complies with safety standards and manufacturer specifications.
Must be able to work Saturdays based on rotation with both shop and field work involved.

Qualifications

Proven experience as a Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanic with a valid Journeyman certification preferred.
Skilled in the use of hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and assembly techniques.
Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and operate heavy machinery confidently.
Strong electrical troubleshooting skills with automotive repair experience considered an asset.
Excellent mechanical knowledge combined with the ability to diagnose complex issues efficiently.
Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment while maintaining safety standards. This position is essential for maintaining the reliability and safety of our fleet of heavy-duty equipment across various operational sites. Pay: $38.00-$46.00 per hour
