The Job
You will report directly to the Maintenance Manager for the day-to-day operations and any other maintenance related issues. Your main responsibility will be to perform a variety of routine to semi-skilled construction, maintenance, and repair duties to maintain the Delta Hotels by Marriott Kingston Waterfront facilities, grounds, and specific equipment. You will ensure that all maintenance related issues are handled, daily, with guest problems taking priority.

What You'll Do
- Performs and assists in preventative maintenance to the hotel’s facilities, grounds, and specific equipment
- Troubleshoot any plumbing problems and determine the best means of fixing it
- Remove, replace, and repair plumbing fixtures, faucets, valves, and washers as necessary.
- Maintenance of PTAC units, ensuring equipment runs properly, replace/clean filters and belts as necessary
- Perform a variety of minor electrical duties including installation and repairs to electrical outlets, switches, receptacles, and light bulb change
- Perform a wide variety of general building maintenance and repair duties; maintenance and repairs to doors and door closures, patches and repairs to ceilings and walls, cleaning of parking lot and restaurant windows, plastering, repair/replace of drywall, apply caulking and grout where needed (bathtubs, toilets, etc.)
- Assembly and repairs to furniture, installs shelving, bulletin boards, and install floor and ceiling tiles
- Patch and prepare surfaces for painting, painting various surfaces including walls, cabinets, doors, parking lot stripes
- Assist in unloading of furniture, supplies, etc.
- Monitor chemical pool readings for pool and spa and add appropriate chemicals when required
- Vacuum bottom of pool as needed and clean filter baskets daily
- Check Brominators and Acid Barrel in the 5th floor mechanical room and add chemicals when required
- Assist in vehicle parking in parking lot when hotel is full and functions going on. This is usually directed by the Front Desk.
- Assist outside contractors as needed in emergency situations
- Keep work area and storage areas clean and orderly. Keep tools clean, appropriately stored and in safe and proper working condition.
- Report unusual situations to management
- Inspect first aid kits on a monthly basis and replenish as needed
- Maintaining the cleanliness of the parking lot – hosing, slush removal, cleaning windows
- Keep main driveway and exit clear of snow and salt when necessary
- Maintenance of walkway - graffiti, painting, lighting
The above areas of responsibility are not all inclusive and may be amended from time to time.
Who We're Looking For
- Completion of secondary school diploma or equivalent
- Post-secondary education such as courses, licenses and/or certifications in related field preferred
- Minimum 1 year experience in building maintenance
- Must have basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, painting, masonry, carpentry
- Previous building maintenance experience an asset
- Must have knowledge to operate both hand and power hand tools in a safe manner
- Must exercise independent judgment and show initiative with little or no supervision
- Must be a team player and willing to learn
- Must be physically able to lift heavy objects
- Must possess the ability to communicate effectively within a diverse team environment
- Ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a multi-cultural environment with co-workers, managers, and guests
- Must be flexible to workdays, evenings, weekends, and holidays
